Club Sherwood Day Trips
Are you looking to add some adventure to your life? We will schedule day trips throughout the year. All activities include day trips; will be appear on the monthly calendars. If you have a favorite destination that you want us to include in our plans, send me an email at . There is no cost for using Sherwood Oaks buses. The approximate cost for tour is indicated.
- Aviary – Enjoy a memorable brush with nature when you witness 600 rare and beautiful birds in an intimate setting lush and vibrant year round. $12 - groups of 15 or more $9
- Bike/walk around Lake Arthur – Bike rental is $7-$8 per hour.

- The Clayton – Experience art and history in a distinctive, memorable way with a docent-led tour of Clayton Mansion. These tours provide you with opportunities to view fine and decorative art from the Renaissance to the present, as well as learn how the Frick family lived during the turn of the 20th century. $5-$10.
- Cooking Demonstration by Sherwood Oaks Chefs – N/C
- Cookout and games (bocce, badminton, horseshoes) at Sherwood Oaks Summer House. – N/C
- Collections – Bring in your prized personal collections and tell the stories behind these treasures. N/C
- Cranberry Highlands Golf – Channel your inner Mickelson, perfect your putting and make your swing smooth as you go for your green jacket! Enjoy a "tee-lightful" round of golf at Cranberry Highlands! $39 (18 holes includes cart).
- Cranberry Highland Nature Trail – The trail loop is ½ mile long and takes about one hour to walk. The trail contains features such as a ground nesting bird area, deer feeding station, bat house, butterfly house, bluebird house, bird sanctuary and hawk nest. A staff member is available to be a guide. N/C
- Depreciation Lands Museum – located in Hampton Twp, this early American settlement preserves and interprets the early years of European life in Western PA. Revolutionary War veterans were given land in this region because the dollar had depreciated in value. A costumed interpreter leads the visit. $5
- Duquesne Incline/Mt Washington and lunch at Station Square – Voted one of the top 10 sites in the world for viewing a Cityscape by USA Today. Take a step back in time on a century old cable car and see the best views of downtown Pittsburgh. Enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants in Station Square.
- Fallingwater Trip – Visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s staggering masterpiece multi-level home cantilevered over an actual waterfall. House tour $18
- Gateway Clipper Cruise – See America's most livable city from the deck of the Gateway Clipper. Go aboard and explore the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers and experience beautiful landscapes that rise from the banks of the 3 rivers. One hour cruise during the week - $13.
- Hartwood Acres – Tour the 31 room stately Elizabethan Tudor mansion, formal gardens and stables on this 629 acre park. $4
- John Heinz History Museum – Preserves and displays a large collection of artifacts, archives, and photos documenting the history of the region. $9
- Just Ducky Tours – Experience Pittsburgh by land and water! The tour begins at Station Square and waddles through the Business District, Cultural District, Heinz Field, PPG Place and then splashes down in one of the 3 rivers to view the skyline. $21
- Meet at Sherwood Oaks for a bus trip to Grove City Outlets. N/C
- Meet the Therapy Dogs, and learn from their trainers how dogs become "therapy dogs" and how they interact with patients. N/C
- Nationality Classrooms at the Cathedral of Learning – 26 nationality rooms showcases furniture and artifacts that represent the cultural backgrounds of various ethnic groups. $3
- Old Economy Village – Tour the 6 acre national historical landmark that tells the story of a group of people that lived there long ago. Learn of their struggles, successes, personalities and beliefs. See what defines the Harmonist way of life. $8
- Phipps Conservatory – Since 1893 visitors have been drawn to the natural wonder and beauty contained within the 19 indoor and outdoor gardens of the Phipps Conservatory. Docent-led tours, $11.
- Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium – Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, oh my! Relive your childhood with a visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. $13
- PNC Park Tour – A walking tour of PNC Park. Tour the dugout, warning track, batting cages, Pittsburgh Baseball Club Level, Press Box and much more. Tour takes about 90 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes! $5
- Pontoon Boat Ride at Moraine State Park – Take a ride on Nautical Nature, a 45 passenger pontoon boat, Moraine State Park's premier attraction. Learn about the natural history of the area and see the unique scenery and wildlife. $9
- Rodef Shalom Biblical Gardens – Enter the Holy Land, a replica of ancient Israel in the Biblical Botanical Gardens with more than 100 temperate and tropical plants. Admission free.
- Shopping in the Strip District and lunch at Primanti's – Visit the historic market district where there is so much culture, so much diversity, and good food! Have lunch at Primanti's and enjoy one of their signature sandwiches. $ varies
